Prayagraj Entrepreneurs Line Up for UP International Trade Show 2026 — Here Is What You Need to Know

More than 135 entrepreneurs, artisans, and startup founders from Prayagraj have applied for the fourth edition of the UP International Trade Show, scheduled from September 25 to 29 at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida. Seven cleared the first selection phase. More will follow as the district administration works through remaining applications across six participant categories.

The UP International Trade Show is a five-day state government event held at India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida. It connects UP-based MSMEs, artisans, startups, and exporters with domestic and international buyers through B2B meetings and investment sessions. The 2026 theme is “UP for Global Growth: Innovation, Manufacturing and Exports.” Any Prayagraj business registered under ODOP, MSME, ODOC, women-led enterprise, startup, or new exporter categories can apply through the district industries office.

What Are the Participation Categories at UPITS 2026?

Six tracks are open to Prayagraj businesses. Picking the right one early saves considerable back-and-forth with the district office.

One District One Product (ODOP): Prayagraj’s designated ODOP is moonj craft, baskets, mats, floor coverings, and ritual items woven from wild grass harvested near the Yamuna. The product received its Geographical Indication tag in 2024. That tag opened formal export certification routes unavailable to artisans even two years earlier. Over 3,000 women across villages like Maheva and the Naini area produce moonj goods through self-help groups. If your business touches moonj in any form, whether as an artisan, a packaging unit, or an e-commerce aggregator, the ODOP slot is your strongest entry point.

Women Entrepreneurs: Women-led businesses across any sector have a dedicated category, with targeted matchmaking support and assigned floor space. At UPITS 2025, women entrepreneurs from smaller UP cities signed agreements with international buyers, including a documented $10,000 MoU by a Kanpur-based founder.

MSMEs and Startups: Open-sector categories for formally registered businesses, regardless of product type. Startups with Udyam or DPIIT recognition qualify. The MSME category attracted the largest exhibitor bloc in prior editions.

One District One Cuisine (ODOC): The most significant new addition to UPITS 2026. The ODOC pavilion appears for the first time, dedicating an entire hall to Uttar Pradesh’s traditional food products. For Prayagraj, that means khichdi variants, chaat formats, and regional sweets with deep local roots. One of the seven entrepreneurs already selected from Prayagraj comes from this category. Food business owners from the district can clearly compete here.

New Exporters: Open to businesses with no prior export history but export-ready products. Officials confirmed this category is built specifically to help first-time participants understand overseas market requirements, buyer expectations, and compliance documentation. It is a learning platform as much as a sales one.

How Many Entrepreneurs From Prayagraj Were Selected for UPITS 4th Edition?

Seven entrepreneurs and innovators from Prayagraj have cleared the first selection phase, according to Prayagraj deputy commissioner (industries) Sharad Tandon. Three come from the ODOP category, three from the combined women, MSME, and startup pool, and one from the new ODOC track. Tandon says more selections are coming.

This is the honest part most coverage skips: seven confirmed does not mean 135 rejected. The selection process runs in phases, and the district industries office processes applications in batches. Entrepreneurs who applied early but have not yet received confirmation are not out.

What Does the UPITS 2026 Scale Mean for a Prayagraj Exhibitor?

The government is targeting more than 2,400 exhibitors and over 550 international buyers from 85 countries. Registered B2B buyers are expected to exceed 1.5 lakh, with B2C footfall projected above 4.5 lakh. Expected MoUs sit at over 4,000, with proposed investment agreements exceeding Rs 3,200 crore and business enquiries worth more than Rs 13,500 crore across the five days.

Those numbers are targets, not guarantees. The 2025 edition, though, offers a real-world benchmark. That event produced a record trade volume of Rs 11,200 crore, with 2,400 MoUs signed and more than 24,400 business meetings conducted across four days. The ODOP pavilion alone generated 46,005 leads. For a Prayagraj moonj artisan or a food startup, that is not abstract data. Those leads came from real buyers walking 466 stalls, and Prayagraj products would have been in that mix.

The show also runs a structured Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet organized through FIEO, where international importers are brought to tables specifically to meet UP exporters. A new exporter from Prayagraj does not need to cold-approach buyers on a trade floor. The matchmaking system arranges scheduled meetings in advance.

What Is One District One Cuisine and How Is It Different From ODOP?

ODOP covers a district’s traditional manufactured product; for Prayagraj, that is moonj craft. ODOC covers traditional food. The two schemes run in parallel but address different supply chains, different buyer audiences, and different compliance frameworks.

ODOC makes its UPITS debut in 2026 with a dedicated pavilion. This is not a food stall arrangement. It is a structured business exhibition format, and food entrepreneurs need packaging, labelling, shelf-life documentation, and some FSSAI compliance to exhibit professionally. A traditional Prayagraj recipe does not automatically qualify as an ODOC exhibit without basic food business formalization.

This distinction matters because Prayagraj MSME trade show 2026 coverage rarely separates the two concepts. An artisan and a food entrepreneur face entirely different preparation timelines.

What the Selection Process Actually Looks Like, and What Comes After

The first phase selection from Prayagraj is administered by the district industries office under Sharad Tandon. Applications are collected by category, reviewed for eligibility, and forwarded to the state-level UPITS coordination body managed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) and IEML.

What current news coverage does not address is what happens between selection and September 25. Selected exhibitors receive stall allotments, physical dimensions, and setup deadlines. They are responsible for their own exhibit design, samples, pricing sheets, and any printed materials. B2B buyer-seller meetings are pre-scheduled, so exhibitors should have a product catalogue and a short pitch ready before the event opens, ideally in English for international buyer meetings.

First-time exhibitors routinely underestimate the preparation window. Seven weeks between selection and the show date is enough time if used deliberately. It is not enough time if a business owner treats confirmation as the finish line.

The government covers certain logistics for selected exhibitors from UP’s ODOP and new exporter categories, including subsidized stall access and accommodation support for international buyer delegations. Individual exhibitors should confirm what support applies to their specific category directly with the district industries office.

Prayagraj’s Moonj Craft: The Export Opportunity That Most Coverage Misses

Of all the ODOP products across Uttar Pradesh’s 75 districts, moonj craft from Prayagraj carries a specific advantage that rarely appears in trade show previews. The GI tag obtained in 2024 is not ceremonial. It is a legal designation that lets exporters market moonj products as geographically authenticated, a genuine differentiator in EU and UK retail markets where provenance drives premium handicraft pricing.

The craft’s eco-friendly profile matches exactly what international buyers in sustainability-focused retail are actively sourcing. Moonj grass is wild-grown, processed without industrial chemicals, and entirely biodegradable. A buyer sourcing for a Scandinavian home goods retailer or a US sustainable living brand is looking for precisely this combination.

The barrier is not demand. In a 90-day Skill Development Mission training programme launched in June 2026, 100 artisans from Prayagraj are being trained specifically on design adaptation and e-commerce compatibility. The problem these artisans identified themselves was the gap between traditional craft techniques and the standardized sizing, packaging, and customization requirements that international e-commerce orders demand. UPITS gives the most prepared among them a shortcut past years of otherwise slow market discovery.

Sectors Featured at UPITS 2026, and Where Prayagraj Fits

The 2026 edition covers more than 27 sectors: textiles, electronics, defence and aerospace, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food processing, EVs, tourism, and leather, among others. The Uttar Pradesh startup global export platform dimension gets concrete support this year through dedicated sessions on AI, e-commerce, free trade agreements, and new labour codes.

For Prayagraj specifically, the relevant tracks are handicrafts under ODOP, food processing under ODOC, and the MSME and startup categories for the district’s technology and services businesses.

The event is structured as a Uttar Pradesh startup global export platform, with live buyer access, MoU signings, and export compliance sessions built into the programme. The UP Export Acceleration Hub, UP Investment Marketplace, and UP $1 Trillion Economy Forum are all new additions in the 4.0 edition, per the official event documentation. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has publicly described the show as a critical step toward the state’s USD 1 trillion economy goal.

What Should a Prayagraj Entrepreneur Actually Do Right Now?

If you applied and have not received confirmation, contact the Prayagraj district industries office directly and ask for your application status by category. The selection process is phased, not completed.

If you have not yet applied, the new exporters UPITS application process remains open in phases. Confirm the current deadline with the district industries office, as no universally published cutoff date for late applications has been officially announced.

If you are selected, treat the next seven weeks as a product and pitch preparation period. Walk into September 25 with a product catalogue, a price list in both INR and USD, and at least a basic understanding of which countries are represented among the 85 invited buyer delegations. That preparation is the difference between 46,000 leads going to other stalls and a handful arriving at yours.

The UP International Trade Show is the biggest B2B opportunity most eastern UP entrepreneurs will see this year. What happens in September depends almost entirely on what exhibitors bring to the floor.
