Startup Events in India 2027: Dates, Costs and Who Should Go

The Centre recognised more than 55,200 startups in FY26, taking the total past 2.23 lakh by 31 March 2026. That is a lot of founders chasing the same investor meetings. Startup events in India are where many of those meetings begin, and the 2027 calendar is filling up unevenly.

Here is the short answer. The confirmed startup events in India for early 2027 run from Vibrant Gujarat and Grace Hopper Celebration India in January, through TiECon Pune and FAST42 in February, to Startup Mahakumbh Expo 6.0 in New Delhi in March and GITEX AI India in Bengaluru in June. Most autumn events have no 2027 dates yet.

This guide sorts the year month by month. It prices what you will pay, flags where the listings disagree, and helps you choose based on your stage.

Startup events in India in 2027: the confirmed calendar

Every date for the startup events in India below comes from an organiser page or an event listing checked on 3 November 2026. Treat anything marked “listing only” as provisional until the organiser confirms it.

Event Dates City and venue Best for
Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (11th edition) 10-12 January 2027 Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar Founders selling to industry or government
National Startup Day 16 January 2027 Nationwide Local incubator and grant sessions
Grace Hopper Celebration India 20 January 2027 (listing only) Bengaluru Women founders and engineers
TiECon Pune 5-6 February 2027 The Westin, Koregaon Park, Pune Early-stage founders near Pune
FAST42 ranking reveal February 2027 Not yet stated D2C brands with revenue growth
Startup Mahakumbh Expo 6.0 12-13 March 2027 Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi Early-stage founders, students, exhibitors
Startup Hub Expo 23-25 March 2027 (listing only) Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi Hardware, IoT, fintech and telecom startups
GITEX AI India 2-4 June 2027 BIEC, Bengaluru AI and deep-tech founders seeking investors
Global Startup Summit Coimbatore 5 June 2027 (listing only) SNS College of Technology Students and first-time founders

The pattern is easy to read. January is spread out. Delhi owns March. Bengaluru takes June. The second half of the list of startup events in India is still blank.

Why your 2027 event choice matters more than it used to

Money is flowing, but to fewer companies. Tracxn data shows Indian tech startups raised $10.3 billion in the first nine months of 2026, up 7%, while the number of funding rounds fell 38% to 1,134. Seed funding dropped 37% to $698 million. Early-stage rounds grew 27% to $4.2 billion.

Read those numbers together and the lesson for founders is plain. Investors are writing bigger cheques to fewer, more proven teams. A seed founder cannot rely on a crowded hall and a lucky hallway pitch. The room has to contain the right ten people, and picking startup events in India now means checking who will be in that room before you pay.

Geography matters too. Bengaluru took 43% of tech funding in that period, Mumbai 18% and Gurugram 16%, while Delhi’s share fell to 4%. That does not make Delhi events useless. It does mean a seed-stage AI founder who wants investors should weigh a Bengaluru trip more heavily than a Delhi one, and a founder who wants government buyers, state missions or distributors should do the opposite.

January: Gandhinagar, Bengaluru and National Startup Day

The year opens with the 11th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, organised by the Government of Gujarat. It is an investment summit, not a startup festival. Earlier editions have included a startup conclave, but the 2027 programme pages we checked do not confirm one yet. Go if your customers are manufacturers, ports, energy companies or state bodies. If you want seed investors, other startup events in India serve you better.

National Startup Day falls on the anniversary of the 2016 Startup India launch. There is no single ticketed venue. Instead, state startup missions, incubators and colleges run their own sessions that week. Those rooms are small, so you can have a real talk with a programme manager about grants or incubation. For students, it is the cheapest way into startup events in India.

Grace Hopper Celebration India, run by AnitaB.org’s India arm, is listed for Bengaluru. It is a technology careers conference first, so treat it as a hiring and network event for women founders and engineers rather than a fundraising one.

One warm-up happens just before the calendar turns. IIT Bombay’s E-Summit, now in its 22nd edition, is set for 12-13 December 2026. It suits student founders and anyone recruiting from campus.

February: TiECon Pune, FAST42 and NTLF

TiECon Pune is listed as free, with registration through TiE’s event platform. TiE chapters run on mentor networks, so the value is access to experienced operators and angels in western India. For a Pune or Mumbai founder, it may return more than a ticket to a far bigger event elsewhere. Of the February startup events in India, it is the easiest one to justify on cost.

FAST42 is Inc42’s yearly ranking of the 42 fastest-growing D2C brands, judged on verified revenue growth from FY2024 to FY2026. Applications close on 10 December 2026, and Inc42 says there are no paid spots. If you run a consumer brand with real growth, apply now; a place on the list does more for investor attention than any booth.

nasscom has also announced NTLF’27, the 35th edition of its Technology and Leadership Forum. Its 2026 edition ran in Mumbai in February, but 2027 dates were not public when we checked. It suits enterprise SaaS and IT services founders who sell to large companies.

March in Delhi: Startup Mahakumbh 2027 and Startup Hub Expo

March is the busiest month for startup events in India, and both of its anchors are at Bharat Mandapam.

Startup Mahakumbh Expo 6.0 bills itself as Asia’s biggest startup expo and conference. Its 2027 programme lists a mega conference, the Startup Dangal 3.0 pitch arena, the IndiaFirst Startup Awards, a States’ Showcase, government and industry roundtables and startup workshops. The organisers expect 150-plus speakers and delegations from more than 30 countries. For a first-time founder, that mix means policy access, investor exposure and a pitch stage in one two-day trip. Startup Mahakumbh 2027 is also one of the cheapest large events to attend, as the pass prices below show.

Startup Hub Expo is run by Exhibitions India Group alongside its Convergence India shows. Listings say it will host more than 350 startups across smart cities, telecom, fintech, AI and IoT. For a hardware or connectivity startup hunting distributors, that crowd sits closer to buyers than to investors.

The catch is timing. The two Delhi weeks sit ten days apart. A team from outside the city faces a choice: two trips, a long stay, or one startup expo in New Delhi done properly. Most small teams should pick one. A second startup expo in New Delhi in the same month rarely doubles the result.

Startup booth cost and pass prices

The Startup Mahakumbh Expo 6.0 site lists four pass types with prices. The Visitor Pass is free. Standard Delegate costs ₹500, Business Delegate ₹4,500 and Premium Delegate ₹15,000, with 18% GST on paid passes. Groups of five or more get half off Standard and Business passes. The site also promises 250-plus investors and 800-plus exhibitors.

Exhibiting costs more. One event profile quotes the official expo page’s booth rates: a Startup Pod at ₹25,000, standard booths at ₹18,000 per square metre and premium booths at ₹22,000 per square metre.

Here is a worked budget for two founders from Jaipur. A Startup Pod plus 18% GST comes to ₹29,500. Two Standard Delegate passes add ₹1,180. That is ₹30,680 before trains, hotels and printing. For many pre-seed teams, that is a month of cloud bills. The startup booth cost only pays off if you arrive with a list of named people to meet.

Compare the maths. With 800 exhibitors and 250 investors, there are more than three booths for every investor in the building. A booth puts you in the queue. A pitch slot in Startup Dangal puts you on stage in front of the judges.

June in Bengaluru: GITEX AI India 2027

GITEX AI India is a first edition. It is organised by inD, a Dubai World Trade Centre and Informa company, with the Government of Karnataka, K-Tech and Startup Karnataka as hosts. Its startup track, North Star India, targets matchmaking between more than 1,000 founders and 200-plus venture and corporate investors. It also runs the Supernova Challenge, a live pitch contest with a cash prize pool, and ScaleX meetings for Series A and later startups.

Two cautions apply. Startup pod pricing is not public yet. The attendance numbers are targets, not counts from a past year, and a first edition can be excellent or thin. Even so, if you are raising a seed round in AI or cybersecurity, GITEX AI India 2027 offers the clearest investor matching of any startup events in India dated so far, in the city that takes the biggest share of funding.

The same week, the Global Startup Summit stops in Coimbatore. It is smaller and runs on a campus. That suits students and first-time founders in Tamil Nadu who would get little from a three-day trade show. Regional startup events in India like this one rarely make national lists, yet the officials and incubator heads who attend often control local grants.

Which startup events in India have not announced 2027 dates?

Several of the largest startup events in India run in the second half of the year. None has published 2027 dates yet.

  • Bengaluru Tech Summit to hold its 29th edition on 17-19 November 2026 at BIEC. A late-year slot in 2027 is likely but unconfirmed.
  • Global Fintech Fest ran at Jio World Centre in Mumbai in September 2026. Fintech founders should hold budget for it rather than book flights.
  • TechSparks, YourStory’s Bengaluru summit, and Kerala Startup Mission’s Huddle Global both ran in the last quarter of 2026 with no 2027 dates.
  • Inc42 has flagged an AI Summit and a D2C and Retail Summit for 2027, both still undated.

The practical move is simple. Set a reminder to check these organisers’ pages in February, when early-bird windows usually open. Until then, plan the rest of your startup events in India around the confirmed first half, and keep about a third of the year’s event budget unspent for the autumn.

How to pick startup events in India for your stage

Before you shortlist startup events in India, name the one outcome that would repay the trip. One customer, three investor meetings or one distribution partner are all fine answers. “Networking” is not.

  • Idea stage: use free delegate passes and visitor passes. National Startup Day sessions, TiECon Pune and campus summits cost nothing but time.
  • Pre-seed with a working product: apply to one of the pitch competitions in India, such as Startup Dangal or the Supernova Challenge. A pitch slot puts you in front of judges who are often investors.
  • Seed to Series A: go where matchmaking is built into the format, such as GITEX’s investor programme and ScaleX.
  • D2C with revenue: apply to FAST42 before you buy any ticket.
  • Enterprise SaaS: NTLF, once it is dated.
  • Hardware, IoT and industrial: Startup Hub Expo or Vibrant Gujarat, where buyers outnumber VCs.
  • Outside the metros: start with startup events in India run by your own state startup mission. They cost less, and the people in the room decide on state grants and pilots.

Now the case against going. Founders are split on whether events pay off. A 2023 survey of more than 50 founders found some credited early events with real growth, while others regretted the lost time. If you have not yet validated demand, skip the booth. Ten customer calls will teach you more than a stall in a crowded hall. Free delegate passes let you test a big event before you pay to exhibit at one.

What to do before and after the event

Treat startup events in India like an ad budget: a fixed sum per quarter, judged on results. Most of the return is decided before you arrive. Three weeks out, pull the speaker and exhibitor lists and pick ten names. Write to each with one line on why a 15-minute chat helps both sides. People who agree before the event actually turn up.

If you enter one of the pitch competitions in India, rehearse a three-minute version of your deck. Arena slots are short, and judges remember a clear problem and one number, not twelve slides.

On the day, keep notes in one place: name, company, what they asked, and the next step. Business cards get lost. A phone note with a photo of the badge does not.

After the event, follow up within 48 hours while you are still remembered. Send the deck or demo you promised and suggest a date. Then, a month later, score the trip against the outcome you set. That one number tells you which startup events in India deserve your money next year.

Plan your 2027 budget for startup events in India now

The first half of 2027 is mapped. January spreads across Gandhinagar, Bengaluru and every state’s incubators, February belongs to Pune and the D2C crowd, March to Delhi, and June to Bengaluru. Pick one or two startup events in India that match your stage. Confirm the organiser on the page where you pay, and set your budget before early-bird prices close. Then write down the three people you need to meet at each, and book only if you can name them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is the biggest startup event in India?

By its organisers’ own figures, Startup Mahakumbh is among the largest, with the 2027 edition promising over 100,000 delegates and 800 exhibitors at Bharat Mandapam. Bengaluru Tech Summit and Global Fintech Fest also draw very large crowds, though neither has announced 2027 dates. Size alone is a poor reason to choose one.

When is Startup Mahakumbh 2027?

Startup Mahakumbh Expo 6.0 is scheduled for 12-13 March 2027 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, according to its official website. Passes range from a free Visitor Pass to a ₹15,000 Premium Delegate pass, and registration is open on the event’s official site, so book early for group discounts.

How do I get a free pass to startup events in India?

Many large events offer a free visitor pass, including Startup Mahakumbh Expo 6.0, and TiECon Pune 2027 is listed as free. Students and researchers often qualify for visitor entry. National Startup Day programmes run by state startup missions and colleges are usually free, and quotas fill quickly, so register early.

Are startup events in India suitable for students and early-stage founders?

Yes, if they pick the right format. Campus summits, National Startup Day sessions and free visitor passes at large expos suit students. Early-stage founders get more from pitch competitions than from paid booths, because a pitch slot puts them in front of judges and investors without exhibiting costs.

What is National Startup Day?

National Startup Day is observed in India on 16 January each year to mark the anniversary of the Startup India initiative, launched in 2016. It has been celebrated since 2022. Government bodies, state startup missions, incubators and colleges run programmes, talks and pitch sessions around the date.

How much does a booth cost at Startup Mahakumbh?

A Startup Pod is listed at ₹25,000, with standard booths at ₹18,000 per square metre and premium booths at ₹22,000 per square metre. GST may be added. Travel, stay and printed material are extra, so a two-person team should budget well beyond the booth fee before committing.

Which city has the most startup events in India?

Bengaluru and New Delhi host the largest share. Delhi dominates March with Startup Mahakumbh Expo 6.0 and Startup Hub Expo at Bharat Mandapam, while Bengaluru hosts GITEX AI India in June and Bengaluru Tech Summit later in the year. Bengaluru also attracts the biggest share of startup funding.
