In a bold move to boost innovation and secure vital funding, six cutting-edge tech startups from Norfolk and Suffolk are gearing up for Slush, Helsinki’s premier tech gathering this November. The event promises to be a game-changer, connecting these ambitious founders with potential investors, seasoned entrepreneurs, and strategic partners.
This exciting venture is the brainchild of Connected Innovation, a dynamic program that unites 28 innovation hubs, universities, and business clusters across East England. Their mission? To bridge the gap between the region’s world-class research and its thriving business ecosystem, unlocking investment opportunities and providing crucial support.
The Future Tech Programme, a joint initiative funded by Connected Innovation and Norfolk and Suffolk County Councils, is the driving force behind this Finnish expedition. Delivered on the ground by Norwich-based Akcela Ventures and Labs Group, the program has already helped founders raise an impressive £1.35 million since its inception in 2024.
James Allen, Connected Innovation’s program manager, expressed his enthusiasm: “We’re thrilled to offer this opportunity to six promising startups from Norfolk and Suffolk. It’s a fantastic addition to our Future Tech Programme. We’re collaborating with regional innovation ecosystems, national innovation support partners, and government departments to maximize the benefits for both the founders and our region.”
To ensure these tech pioneers are primed for success, Connected Innovation is rolling out a comprehensive support package over the summer. This tailored preparation will equip the founders with the tools and knowledge they need to make the most of their time at Slush and increase their chances of securing investment.
As these Norfolk and Suffolk startups prepare to take Helsinki by storm, the tech world watches with bated breath. Will these innovative minds return with the funding and partnerships needed to transform their bold ideas into thriving ventures? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for certain – the future of East England’s tech scene looks brighter than ever.
