In a move aimed at fostering regional cooperation and empowering Gulf entrepreneurs, the Association of Small and Medium Enterprise in Kuwait (ASMEK) organized a conference on entrepreneurship in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. The conference was held as part of the ongoing Gulf Weeks activities, ahead of the 45th GCC Summit.
Shaima Bin Hussein, the Board Chairperson of ASMEK, emphasized the conference’s objective to enhance collaboration within this vital sector. “The event provides a platform for Arabian Gulf entrepreneurs to connect, network and build professional relationships,” she stated.
The conference agenda covered a wide range of topics, including the digital economy, social and environmental responsibility, good governance, as well as success stories of startups and entrepreneurs in Kuwait and other GCC countries.
Heba Al-Rifai, the Acting Director General of Kuwait’s National Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, highlighted the fund’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs. “We provide financial backing, guidance, training, and help entrepreneurs forge partnerships with relevant authorities,” she explained.
Al-Rifai further noted that the conference presented an exceptional opportunity to shed light on the pivotal role of small and medium enterprises in driving sustainable economic development across the Gulf region.
The small and medium enterprise sector is widely recognized as one of the most important pillars for achieving long-term economic prosperity in the GCC countries. This conference served as a testament to the region’s growing emphasis on nurturing a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.
