On International Women’s Day, female entrepreneurs across various sectors called for tangible steps to address gender inequality in the workplace. They stressed the importance of improved representation, support, and policies to empower women at all levels.
This year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” prompted women business leaders to share their insights on the obstacles faced by women and the pressing need for change.
Shweta Baisla, CFO & Director of Sona Machinery Ltd, spoke about the difficulties women encounter in male-dominated fields. She emphasized that International Women’s Day serves as a reminder of the ongoing work needed to achieve true gender equality.
Ekta Prakash Sharma, Director and CEO of Humanising Lives, encouraged women to define success on their own terms. She urged women to embrace their authentic selves and celebrate their strengths.
Yashna Garg, Founder of Yugap Wellness, highlighted the lack of women in decision-making roles and its impact across industries, particularly in healthcare. She emphasized the importance of including women’s voices in policy-making and product development to address issues directly affecting them.
Jyoti Singh, Founder & CEO of Sparsh Yog, discussed overcoming societal expectations and financial challenges faced by women entrepreneurs. She advised women to seek help when needed and create a supportive environment.
Rani Garg, Director of Zeon Lifesciences Pvt Ltd, stressed the need for workplace equality. She called for equal pay, gender-neutral education, leadership opportunities, and a workplace culture based on empathy.
These women leaders agreed that while discussions about gender equality are crucial, real change comes from action. They urged businesses, policymakers, and society to speed up efforts towards inclusivity, equal opportunities, and fair treatment of women in all sectors.
