Video Startup mmhmm Rebrands as Airtime, Unveils New Meeting Tools

A video startup founded by Evernote creator Phil Libin has undergone a major transformation. The company, previously known as mmhmm, has rebranded as Airtime and introduced two new products aimed at enhancing online meetings.

Airtime’s latest offerings include a virtual camera and a presentation tool, both designed to make video calls more engaging and professional. The company aims to address common issues in online meetings, such as casual attire, distracting backgrounds, and lack of participant engagement.

The first product, Airtime Creator, allows users to present slides while appearing on screen alongside their content. This tool supports up to 10 presenters simultaneously, offering a more interactive experience. Airtime Creator builds upon mmhmm’s original offering, providing users with greater control over their presentation’s appearance, background, and layout.

The second product, Airtime Camera, enables users to customize their appearance in video calls across various platforms like Zoom, Teams, and Meet. Features include background tinting, logo addition, and the ability to react with visuals or GIFs. These customizations are intended to help users stand out and reinforce their personal or brand identity during meetings.

As part of the rebranding from mmhmm to Airtime, the company’s desktop app will update automatically, providing existing customers access to both new tools. The virtual camera will also be renamed “Airtime” in meeting software settings.

Airtime, formerly mmhmm, is backed by Sequoia Capital and SoftBank Vision Fund, having previously raised $100 million in funding. The company is offering Airtime Camera for free until August 1, after which it will be available for a one-time fee of $20. Airtime Creator is priced at $10 per month, with a free trial option available.

These new products reflect the ongoing evolution of virtual communication tools as remote work and online meetings continue to be prevalent in today’s business landscape.
