The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has launched an exciting new initiative to boost India’s startup ecosystem. The Startup Maha Rathi challenge, part of Startup Mahakumbh’s second edition, offers entrepreneurs access to a massive Rs 30 crore fund, expert mentorship, and valuable networking opportunities.
This groundbreaking program targets early and growth-stage startups across 11 vital sectors, including AI, biotech, fintech, and more. It aims to propel India’s startup landscape forward, supporting the country’s vision of becoming a developed economy by 2047.
The challenge features a rigorous selection process, kicking off on February 26, 2025. It culminates in a live pitching finale from April 3-5, 2025, at New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam. Shortlisted startups are guaranteed Rs 1 lakh, with top performers in each sector receiving up to Rs 10 lakh.
Beyond financial support, participants gain access to guidance from over 100 leading venture capitalists, angel investors, and industry specialists. This mentorship comes from organizations like Avaana Capital, LetsVenture, and the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission.
The Startup Maha Rathi challenge also features a dedicated program for innovative startups from emerging states and union territories, ensuring widespread representation across India.
By connecting promising entrepreneurs with funding, expertise, and global markets, this initiative seeks to fuel technological advancement and economic growth throughout the nation. It represents a significant step towards nurturing India’s next generation of business leaders and innovators.
