Amid South Korea’s complex economic crisis, many see entrepreneurship as the solution. In a new survey of over 1,500 citizens, more than half pointed to startup ventures as the way forward. The poll by Maeil Business Newspaper and Federation of Korean Industries sought answers on how best to overcome current challenges. An overwhelming 56% identified entrepreneurship as the key.
While crisis presents difficulty, it also brings opportunity according to respondents. Starting new businesses allows harnessing of individual talent and taking ownership of economic destiny. Survey also found strong support for including entrepreneurship lessons in regular education curriculum. The goal is better equipping youth with skills to thrive, not just survive, in changing conditions.
Those who’ve already shown it can be done continue inspiring others. Late business legends remain shining examples of entrepreneurial spirit driving national progress. The survey recognized auto titan Chung Ju-yung of Hyundai Group as leading influence with over one-third naming him. Other champions include Samsung founders Lee Byung-chul and Lee Kun-hee plus steel visionary Park Tae-joon of POSCO.
