Parasail Launches Massive GPU Fleet, Challenging Cloud Giants

Parasail, a startup providing on-demand GPUs, has officially launched its platform, boasting a fleet of graphics processing units that surpasses Oracle’s entire cloud infrastructure. The company aims to revolutionize AI infrastructure by offering affordable access to high-performance hardware like Nvidia’s H100, H200, A100, and 4090 GPUs.

Co-founders Tim Harris and Mike Henry started Parasail in 2023, driven by their vision of a more decentralized AI infrastructure landscape. “We didn’t want a world where AI was controlled from soup to nuts by the hyperscalers,” Harris explained.

Unlike traditional cloud providers, Parasail collaborates with numerous hardware suppliers to create a vast, flexible GPU network. The company’s proprietary technology connects these diverse GPU sources, setting it apart from competitors.

Since its soft launch, Parasail has attracted dozens of customers, including Elicit, Weights & Biases, and Rasa. The startup has also secured $10 million in seed funding from investors such as Basis Set Ventures, Threshold Ventures, Buckley Ventures, and Black Opal Ventures.

Parasail faces stiff competition from established cloud giants and other AI infrastructure startups. However, the founders remain confident in the growing demand for GPU resources. “We see literally no end [to] the demand,” Harris stated, highlighting the challenges companies face in scaling AI operations.

As Parasail enters the market, it bets on the continued expansion of GPU demand and aims to simplify access to AI infrastructure for businesses of all sizes.
