Huawei Cloud is empowering the next generation of innovators in Nigeria. At their recent Startup Summit in Lagos, the tech giant announced a bold new initiative to support 100 local startups over the next two years.
Dubbed the “Power of Startups” programme, Huawei Cloud is committing cloud resources, training, and funding worth up to $150,000 to each participating startup. Speaking at the summit, Huawei Cloud Director Hugo Hu called on attendees to help shape Nigeria’s digital future through collaboration and innovation supported by cloud technology.
The path of startup growth is full of hurdles such as access to technology, funding, and data security. However, Hu stressed that embracing the cloud unlocks opportunities for startups to scale rapidly and access new markets. As a global leader in cloud services, Huawei aims to provide Nigerian innovators with advanced infrastructure, professional guidance, and business opportunities.
Overseeing the programme rollout is Ecosystem Director Paul Adigu. He outlined how three pillars – a leading cloud platform, talent development initiatives, and startup credits – will empower the next wave of Nigerian disruptors. Already operating in Nigeria for over two decades, Huawei understands the country’s potential and is investing to foster digital transformation.
With 88 data centers worldwide and a local cloud launch planned for 2024, Huawei Cloud gives Nigerian startups a springboard to develop solutions and reach customers internationally. This new support programme unleashes the power of local entrepreneurs to innovate with cloud-based resources and drive Nigeria towards an intelligent future.
