Startup Boom Across India: Over 1.14 Lakh Enterprises Now Officially Recognized Under Startup India Initiative
The Indian startup ecosystem is thriving with over 1.14 lakh innovative companies now gaining official recognition from the government. According to figures released in Parliament, the number of startups endorsed under the popular ‘Startup India’ program has surged past 1.14 lakh as of October 2023.
Launched in 2016, the Startup India initiative has fueled entrepreneurship and nurtured new ideas across the country. The multi-faceted program aims to foster an environment where budding businesses can flourish through simplified regulations, funding opportunities and collaboration between industry and academia.
To achieve its goals, the government unveiled a comprehensive 19-point action plan covering key pillars like simplifying processes, financial assistance and incubation support. Aligned with this roadmap, flagship schemes like the ‘Fund of Funds for Startups’, ‘Startup India Seed Fund Scheme’ and the ‘Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups’ were rolled out.
These schemes are empowering entrepreneurs at various growth stages through financial backing. Startups can now access capital more easily to turn promising ideas into reality thanks to schemes that de-risk funding. The number of startups benefiting from this government support continues rising consistently.
