French Cybersecurity Startup Filigran Secures $35 Million for Threat Management Innovation

Paris-based cybersecurity startup Filigran has raised a significant $35 million in its latest funding round as it looks to further develop and globalize its suite of threat management solutions.

Filigran’s flagship product is OpenCTI, an open-source threat intelligence platform that allows users to import threat data from various sources and enrich that data through intelligence provided by leading vendors. The open-source version of OpenCTI boasts over 4,300 contributors from the cybersecurity community and has seen millions of downloads to date. Notable adopters of OpenCTI include governmental organizations such as the European Commission and FBI as well as major corporations spanning industries such as aerospace, hospitality, and technology.

Building on the success and user base of OpenCTI, Filigran has developed additional products to offer customers a more comprehensive suite for managing cybersecurity risks. This includes OpenBAS, a simulation platform for modeling attacks and defense strategies. Using OpenCTI and OpenBAS in an integrated manner provides a holistic view of potential threats.

Going forward, Filigran aims to launch a third complementary product by 2026 to deliver end-to-end threat management capabilities. The funding will support further product development as well as expanding Filigran’s global footprint outside its current markets in France, U.S. and Australia to also include Germany, Japan and Singapore.

Insights Partners led the Series B funding round with participation from existing backers Accel and Moonfire Ventures. Filigran looks to not only innovate its product offerings but also foster an open cybersecurity community through a planned “XTM Hub” platform modeled after collaboration giants GitHub and Hugging Face. This networking hub would allow professionals to share expertise, resources and ideas to strengthen cyber defenses collectively.

With cyber risks growing in scale and complexity yearly, Filigran is well-positioned to aid organizations worldwide through an integrated suite of visibility, analysis and mitigation tools that promote information sharing for the collective good of security.
